HOBY Oklahoma is a 100% volunteer-led nonprofit organization that hosts an annual Seminar, inviting 120+ Oklahoma high school students who have recently completed sophomore year. In just a few days, students (called Ambassadors) will have the chance to explore their leadership potential, connect with new friends, and discover how they can make a real impact in their community and beyond. Students explore leadership in three phases: Personal, Group, and Service. They will hear from speakers, participate in activities and discussions, and complete multiple hands-on service projects. In short - HOBY changes lives.

HOBY's History

HOBY was founded in 1958 by actor and humanitarian Hugh O’Brian, inspired by his time with Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Albert Schweitzer.

Hugh believed in empowering young people to think for themselves and make a difference in the world.

What began as a small leadership seminar in California has grown into a global movement, with over 500,000 alumni creating positive change in their communities.

About Hugh O'Brian

Hugh O’Brian was a true trailblazer. He was an athlete, a Marine Corps instructor, and a Hollywood star, best known for his role as Wyatt Earp. After meeting Dr. Schweitzer in Africa, Hugh was inspired to challenge young people to become leaders. His vision became HOBY, and his legacy lives on through students like you, who continue to dream big and lead boldly.
